Acid Cat Reflex vs I Wanna Beard

- Tuesday April 3rd, 2012 -

On Tuesday night at Dufferin Grove, with the dead leaves and Tim Horton Iced Cappuccino cups finally being swept from our court after weeks of playing pickup through them… Bike Polo Toronto/BPTO’s season officially began!

No more whole morning and afternoons spent on the Facebook page arm twisting and name calling other members in an effort to rally a meek half-hour of 2-on-2; for BPTO League is upon us… and everyone everywhere is serious about polo once again!*

*(Unless it gets cold outside...)

This was the first fixture ever played in our city, and that is something to be pretty excited about. Many thanks to Kevin, Maija, Ngaihon, Shane, and Nick I. for sorting out teams, and especially Lewis for setting it all up!

‘Acid Cat Reflex’ (Maija, Swanson, Patty) and ‘I Wanna Beard’ (Nick I, Frank, John) played their first three games between pickups. The weather was brisk, but people still came out to watch, and this is how it all sort of went down…

The Chase

Pretty great shot Lewis took at Dufferin Grove a couple weeks ago.

BPTO League Season 1

BPTO Spring season is here! The inaugural season of the BPTO League!

Teams

Trevor, Steve, Navid
Dirks, Sara, Savage
Nick I, Frank, Stillwell
Kev, Charlebois, Joel
Shane, Glen, Kirsten
Ngaihon, Heff, Mitch
Lewis, Megan, Kaiser
Maija, Swanson, Patti

Captains are listed first. You will need to send Lewis a team name once you have spoken to your players.

How it works

Each team will be scheduled 2 rounds or "fixtures" to play each month, and will have until the last day of the month to complete games.

A "fixture" a series of 3 games. Regular first-to-5, max 15 mins deal. All 3 games of a fixture are to be played on the same day.

Calendar

April: Round 1 and 2
May: Round 3 and 4
June: Round 5 and 6
July: Round 7 and playoffs

Tuesdays are hereby declared "league night" and will be the best time to play your games. Sundays from 12-2 are also suggested as appropriate time to schedule league games so pick-up can commence for everyone else from 2pm. Playing League games during our regular pickup up times will be considered bad etiquette if other people are waiting to play.

Check out the League page for more info and up to date schedules and results of the League.

We went to the bike show

Thanks to Modrobes and YNOT for setting us up with a booth, and all the people who came by. And big shout out to the makers of the videos that we had playing, especially Mr Do.

It wasn't all kids like in the picture below, but the kids who came by loved it.
